Martie has little free time—not enough to indulge her passion for art. (Much to the frustration of her husband, she does continue to collect art supplies for that day when she will have time.) Meanwhile, to satisfy that artsy itch, she makes cakes for very special occasions. Because these are treats only 3 or 4 times a year, she doesn't try to make them healthful. However, she does use MacNut Oil because it makes them much more delicious. With the exception of the doll in the one cake (no time to make the doll portion), Martie makes every part of the cake edible. Yes, even the money coming out of the purse is printed on rice paper with food color. (You might not want to eat the spaghetti spokes in the
wagon wheel or the shredded wheat / frosting cow pie in the ranch scene, but technically you could.) Sometimes she gets kind of ridiculous with the detail. (E.g. the pictures in the windows of the scale model hummer are actually edible photos of family members and the volcano spewed dry ice “smoke”.)
